Belated Father's Day and Monsters

Sorry I haven't been able to get on here to wish all the dads in our lives a happy Father's Day, but better late than never, right?

I did want to say how much I love my husband though and he's such a great daddy to our little boy. He has always been so involved in Timothy's life from the very beginning. I don't think I changed a diaper until we were already home from the hospital (which means he even changed the first dirty diaper!!). He always takes time out from his day to play with him and they wrestle or play baseball or just sit and watch sports or movies together. Timothy loves his daddy so much and I know it's because God has blessed him with a great father. So, I love you Brandon and thank you for being such a great daddy to our child (and I can't wait to see your face when you see your little girl for the first time!!!).

And to my daddy...you know I think you're the best and you know I love you. We always knew growing up that we could depend on you and you were always there for us. You have been such a good example to me of what a father and husband should be and I really appreciate it. And THANK YOU especially for working so hard to help us fix up the house. Brandon and I have both learned so much and we couldn't have done it without you.

And finally, to my father in law...thank you for raising your son to be such a wonderful man. I know it's hard being so far away, but we love you and appreciate it so much that you take the time to come up here and visit us, it really means a lot to us (even though we know you really just come to see Timothy - haha!).

Whew, ok, wipe my face and blow my nose and now on to the funny story of the week. So Saturday was door day again and the guys worked so hard and the doors look GREAT! As soon as I can get the frames painted and cover up the nail holes, I will get pictures up. We only have six more window frames to paint and one more room to paint (our room will be last...probably next year) and then this house will be ready for a sweet little princess! Anyway, so while the guys were working, Timothy and I left for the day to stay out of the way. We finally came home at 3:30 because I was pooped and he hadn't had a nap and was getting bored and just wanted to be back in his own space. We helped a little and he played outside some and finally at 8:00 that night my mom and I sat down on the couch with him and turned on the TV. I saw that Monsters, Inc. was on so I thought he might like that so we watched it. He LOVED it so thankfully I thought to press record when it started so we didn't have to run out and buy it!

So the next day he gets up from his nap and asked to watch it and I was tired and needed to finish painting so I said sure and then I learned how much this little guy pays attention to details! We finished the movie and were moving the furniture back into his room. He was playing with the bed frame and then he ran into our room and shut the door. A few minutes later I heard him yell for mommy so I opened the door and he was standing at the end of the bed and he kept saying, "he's coming!"...I thought he meant Brandon so I just blew it off. Then once we got his bed put together he said the same thing and looked in the closet and under the bed. Then it clicked - he's looking for monsters. He kept it up for a while and when I told him it was time to go to bed that night he said something about monsters going to sleep so we had a little talk about monsters and how they were all gone and then I promptly deleted that movie from the DVR.

He hasn't brought it up since, but I couldn't believe how much he picked up from only seeing the movie two times. He was so cute looking under the bed though. The other day I asked him to come say hi to baby sister and he pulled up his shirt and said, "Nope, just a belly". He's a smart one, pretty scary. That's all for today, it's been a crazy week, my mom has been in the hospital (please pray for her!!) and we got more news at work about the "right-sizing" that we're going through so it's just been a lot to process this week...but happy belated Father's Day to all the dads out there and I'll do a better job next time of posting earlier!!

Doors, Doors, and More Doors!!!

I'm so sick of doors it's not even funny. We've been installing new doors all in our house...I say, we...it's really been my dad and Brandon that did all the work. HUGE thank you my wonderful dad for spending his entire Saturday with us last week helping paint and put in the doors...and for planning to spend tomorrow back over here finishing up (hopefully!). We sure could not have done it without him. Brandon has spent the past week making sure all the doors are level and close the way they're supposed to, it's been a fun week at our house.

Timothy's room is now a lovely shade of light blue and dark blue with white trim, a new ceiling fan, new curtains, and new blinds. Pretty soon he'll have a new bookshelf and then it will all be complete. It looks so cute, I'll put some pictures up when it's all finished. We're moving on to Charlotte's room next, once he's good to go sleeping in his big boy bed. I'm getting nervous about getting it all done before August...two months from tomorrow is my due date, scary!!

Not much else going on here, we celebrated Brittany's birthday today, yeah!! Tomorrow we're working on the house again and it's FINALLY warm and sunny up here! They said on the news the other day that this is the coldest June we've had in 90 years, can you believe that! Crazy! But tomorrow is supposed to be 70 and sunny, I'm so excited, that is perfect weather if you ask me! Not too many new pictures, our camera is dying and I haven't replaced the batteries (I really just need a new camera since Timothy broke this one, but it still works and there are other things to spend money on right now!). Happy (almost) summer!

This is a normal morning in our house (when we don't have to do work and daycare), chilling on the couch in pj's, eating a waffle and watching Peter Pan while we wake up!

These are his boots, which he now calls his "boo boo's" and sometimes they're "fire boo boo's"...and he can take his clothes off by himself now so he frequently strips down...and he loves to wear Brandon's old hat...makes for great pictures!

JDRF Walk Recap

Saturday was great...we had beautiful weather, a great team of walkers and supporters and we all had a wonderful time. I didn't really get to take any pictures, I had planned on walking the 2 mile short cut route, but I found out Friday that I am highly allergic to cottonwood and we have a cottonwood tree across the street from our house and by Saturday morning I could barely breathe! So I sat out the walk and Candice and I guarded the table and every one's stuff. Brandon and Bryan and Mrs. Joyce (or, as Timothy says, Miss Doyce) were the last walkers to finish, but they had a great time. Thankfully Brandon took a lot of pictures while they were on the trail...I didn't get a group shot though, so if someone could send me one of those...that would be great!

I did go to the doctor on Thursday and Charlotte is measuring just fine. I was exactly 29 weeks on Thursday and I measured in at 29 1/2 so pretty much right on target. I had to take the glucose test as well so hopefully I won't get a call about that this week and everything will keep going as smoothly as it has been. The doc also made some good recommendations to help with the havoc this little girl is wreaking on my stomach and it really has helped so hopefully I can enjoy these last two months and rest and get ready for my sweet baby girl.

My dad is coming over this weekend to help paint Timothy's room so hopefully he'll be all moved in by the end of June. All I will have left to do once it's painted is find some curtains and get some blinds up on the window. And once that's done it's on to Charlotte's room. Brandon is out in the garage painting all our new doors as I type so the home repair is well under way!!

I don't think I blogged about our parent/teacher conference at Timothy's day care last week. It went great, they really are a great day care. I was so happy too, we got in there and the first thing Timothy asked was to go potty so his teacher made a big deal about that and said she would start asking him if he wanted to go during the day. We went and bought some pull ups on Saturday. We'll see how it goes. I don't want to push it with the baby coming, but if he's ready, more power to him!! She showed us the notebooks that they have to keep on each child and in it she had a page for Timothy for a different developmental skill for each week. She had a picture of him accomplishing whatever the goal for that week was and a paragraph about what he did and how it helped his development. It's crazy how much they have to track, but I'm grateful to know that they're so proactive about each child's development! She saved one page for last, it was a picture of him dressed up in heels and a wedding veil...Brandon was so proud! She did say that Timothy is quite manipulative...he will see another kid playing with a toy he wants and grab another toy to try and trick the kid into giving up the toy that Timothy really wants...I think that's pretty smart for a two year old!!

Anyway, not much else happening here...it's closing week for me this week so I'll be busy and I still can't believe it's June! Happy birthday yesterday to Aunt Karen and tomorrow to Hadley!!
